High Society Hat Pattern

Directions for this project inRomantic Hand Knits, shown below. The word cloche is french for bell and this classic design hugs the head and spreads gracefully at the brim. The intricate looking pattern is charted for ease in knitting. The hat is worked brim first, from the head out to the outer edge of the brim and then stitches are picked up at the cast on and the crown is started, decreasing to the top. The brim is reinforced with millinery wire, and the book includes a section on basic millinery techniques for hat construction. Embellished with a lovely ribbon, this hat is sure to turn heads wherever it is worn. Yarn cost is $4.98. Shown in Shine Sport Sky.
