The Gansey Boot Cuffs use simple knits, purls and 2-stitch cables to evoke iconic gansey sweaters. These cuffs combine rich texture with casual comfort. The Gansey Boot Cuffs include three of my favorite textured stitch patterns from traditional fisherman's sweaters along the coasts of Ireland. In a traditional fisherman's sweater, each stitch pattern is thought to represent a part of life. For these boot cuffs, I chose cables to represent fishermen's ropes, a ladder to represent ship ladders and a chevron as a symbol of protection.
